Stablecoin — FAQ

Basics

What is a stablecoin?

A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. Because it holds its value at a dollar, it is a payment instrument rather than a speculative one. Stablecoins are regulated in the US (the GENIUS Act), Europe (MiCA), and other jurisdictions, whose rules require issuers to hold reserves against every token in issue.

Who can pay

Who can pay me in stablecoin?

Anyone, including businesses, regardless of where they live. The sender can pay from a centralized exchange such as Binance, or from a self-custodial wallet on major blockchain networks.

Receive

Which networks can I be paid on?

You receive directly on Solana, and Maash gives you a deposit address on 14 other networks — including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain — so a customer can pay you in USDC or USDT from the network they already use. That is 15 networks in all, listed on this page and updated as networks are added.

Send

Which networks can I send USDC to?

You can send USDC to 22 networks. Sends on Solana go directly, and Maash routes a transfer to any of the other 21 cross-chain — including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon. You pick the destination network, and the amount and fee are shown before you confirm.

Pricing

What does accepting stablecoin cost?

Receiving on Solana is free, and paying another Maash account is free. Receiving from another network via a deposit address is 0.1%. Sending USDC is 0.05% on the standard tier or 0.1% on the fast tier, plus a variable network fee to cover the destination chain’s gas — always shown before you confirm.

Other crypto

What if the sender only has Bitcoin or Ether?

They first convert their cryptocurrency to the USDC stablecoin. Once their funds are on a supported blockchain network, they can pay you right away.

Timing

How long does it take to receive a payment?

It depends on how you are paid. A direct payment on Solana arrives in about 0.8 seconds. A payment from another network reaches you through a deposit address, and usually arrives within a few minutes, depending on the source network.
